Our interest in the cytoskeleton has led us to a new collaboration with Jeremy Thorner to characterize the assembly of septin filaments. Optimizing conditions for in vitro assembly, and defining the function of the septins, and their individual domains, in the process of assembly and the final structure of the filament, are some of the exciting tasks ahead.
